Farhad Fereydoonzad – Treasurer
Born in Tehran, Iran, I moved to Montreal in 1976 and completed my Mechanical
Engineering education from McGill. My career has been in the Pulp & Paper industry
working in Engineering, Management and Product sales at Valmet Ltd. I have two
beautiful daughters whom I have been able to raise and introduce them to Iranian
culture and Zoroastrianism with the help of my mother, family and ZAQ. Being a
member of ZAQ since 1977, has helped me to show my children our Zarthushti rituals
and believes. I have been active with ZAQ organizing the sports activity since 2011
and have had a privilege of meeting and playing along so many of our community
young athletes and older enthusiasts. I am happy to be part of such a young and
enthusiastic group to serve our community and provide a teaching and learning
environment for our youth and adult community members.
Zareen Hakim Austin
Originally from Cortlandt Manor, New York, I currently reside in Beaconsfield,
Quebec, with my husband, Pheroz, and two children, Rushad and Shiraz. I
graduated with a BS in Biology from Binghamton University in 1995 and spent the
next 7 years working for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. In 2002, I decided to pursue my
longstanding interest in art and attended The International Academy of Design in
Montreal. I now enjoy a career as a graphic designer. I am grateful to be involved in
the Zoroastrian community, and am happy to serve on the ZAQ Executive
Committee for another term. I think it’s important to teach our children the beauty of
Zoroastrianism and how it can gently guide us in everyday life.
Abtin Jahanbakshzadeh
9 years ago, I left Iran and started living in France and after 3 years I moved to
Canada (Montréal) (2009) for studying and living. I am an engineer PhD candidate in
Mining and Geotechnical engineering at École Polytechnique of Montréal with 5
years of work as research of assistance at University of Montréal. I have been on the
committee for the 2013-2015 term and have been chosen to serve the Zoroastrian
Association of Quebec for a second term starting from 2015 to 2017 with 2 years
work experience at the young Zoroastrian Association of Iran and previous 2 past
years at the ZAQ. I am highly motivated to offer my skills and expertise to work in the
community and I hope that we, as a team, are able to organize some fun events and
make it a memorable term for everyone.
Mitra Bahrami
I moved to Canada in 1990. I am married and have two wonderful daughters. I work
as a registered dietitian nutritionist at Charles LeMoyne Hospital and community
center on the south shore of Montreal. I was on the committee from 2009 to 2011. It is
a great opportunity for me to be a part of this young team and I hope to serve our
committee the best way I can.
